Animatic responses

On Friday our class pitched our animatic's to Luke and the rest of the class. Animatics are important as they give a clear visual set of ideas of what is going to be happen in the music video, therefore highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of our music video. Similarly story boards play a similar role in allowing us to link all the shots together and have a more basic visual structure of the music video.

One strength we received was that it was very well edited in time with the music, this is positive as the drums in the song are very heavy, making cuts look very effective if it is in time. The drawings were also praised for being very clear, allowing the group to understand what was happening during the animatic.

On the other hand, Luke's main worry was the lack of the performance element, as the narrative did not flow into the performance element of things as easily as it could of done. This is useful as we know are going to alter some scenes in order to create fluidity and a bigger effect. For example we will start having shots of people running to the rave a lot earlier. This is going to effect our decision making as we will have to shoot certain scenes in alternative orders, as well as the editing process as we will have to intercut the performance with the narrative.

Website inspiration

For our website inspiration we looked at the official KOAN Sound website and the daft punk website. They both had very simple design, and a "enter page" which individually had two very cool and unique designs. This is something we wanted to replicate, using our own designs. When entering the websites the designs were very simple with clear indications of where to go. We liked the idea of having very simple and clear subheadings, which we decided we wanted to contain at least Music, merchandise, gallery and shows. On the daft punk website directly in the middle is a massive video for their latest music video, we would also like to do this to gain immediate attention from the audience.

Album artwork inspiration

For our artwork we did some research into different types of art. We liked the idea of having complex and artistic shapes. From previous EP's released on inspected these shapes are used, and we really liked them. However we wanted to add aspects of our music video into it, therefore we thought we should add a forest scene in the back to relate it to the music video. We think the idea of a very simplistic and artistic design would be effective in portraying the image of the artists as being unique and modern.
